"I fought for this record," confesses singer-songwriter Todd Carey. The acclaimed artist set out to make a career-defining album with Future Throwback (Blaster Records). His quest spanned three years, tracking in four states, shelving three records and feverishly writing 70 songs. The outcome is a euphoric pop record that's playfully irreverent and brimming with sleek urban beats and swaggering pop hooks. Rarely has an artist been this serious about showing his audience a good time.
"When I look back on making this album, I feel I achieved my goal as a writer," Carey says. "I sleep well at night because I made this record."
The New York-based artist previously hit the top forty iTunes charts with his 2010 EP release After the Morning After. In support of his 2007 debut, Watching Waiting (Fontana), he played over 250 dates, with sellout shows in Chicago and Wisconsin, dazzling audiences with his pop song smarts, masterful guitar playing and exuberant stage presence. Carey has toured nationally and performed on stage with such diverse artists as Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Marc Broussard, Brendan James, Jason Reeves, Keaton Simons and Matt Duke. Since 2010 he has been a fixture at the annual Hotel Carolina music festival. His music has been featured in MTV's The Real World and movies such as Palo Alto and True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet.
Future Throwback is the culmination of all this past work and the album feels like a celebration of self-realization. The leadoff single "Nintendo" is the invitation to the party. On it, Todd flows sugary rhymes and, with 1980s retro whimsy, name checks Captain Crunch, Battleship, and shoes with pumps.
"I set out to make an album that reflects me - playing these songs makes me feel alive. This has been the most painstaking, frustrating and, ultimately, rewarding artistic process," Carey says. "It has established my identity for the rest of my life." -

Icarus Landing is a genre-defying five-piece out of Hollywood, CA. Their sound is a healthy mixture of alt-rock and indie rock, with a side of heavy thrown in for good measure.
Originally formed in Cleveland, Ohio, but now based in Hollywood, California, Icarus Landing is one of the hardest working new rock acts you’ll find anywhere. From packing Peabody’s Downunder in Cleveland, to filling Hollywood’s Viper Room to the gills, “IL” draws lively, energetic crowds everywhere they go, largely thanks to the blood and sweat they spill on stage every night.
In January 2013, the band released their epic new single and video, “Call to You“. In less than two months, the provocative clip reached over 50k views on YouTube and is still climbing. They will release 6 more singles during 2013, each with accompanying video art. The series of short films tells a bigger story when you string the unique pieces together.
In addition to this aggressive release schedule, the group is embarking upon their first European tour in fall 2013.

Summa, by definition, is the cohesion of distinct bases of knowledge into a comprehensive whole. When Jake O'Neal and Max Grossman formed their indie rock duo, the moniker perfectly embodied their fusion of style and talent. Based out of Boulder, Jake recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado with a degree in Electrical Engineering. But when he beat out 87 other vocalists to place 2nd in "CU Idol," he decided to turn his love of music into his full-time focus. Looking to diversify his solo act, Jake joined up with drummer, bassist, and producer Max Grossman in the fall of 2012. In their search for a fitting name, Jake decided to fashion his past success (summa cum laude) into his fresh endeavor (Summa). In May 2013, Summa added prodigal 16-year-old Miles Bragg to their roster as a live bassist, rounding out their power trio.
With hints of Kings of Leon, Muse, and Radiohead, Summa has wielded the summary of its respective parts to produce a catalogue of well- crafted indie rock songs. Known for their intimate lyrics, catchy hooks, gripping stage presence, and Jake’s vocal versatility (oscillating between raw intensity and smooth falsetto), the group consistently draws big crowds in the Denver/Boulder area. Since forming, they have toured extensively, playing shows at virtually every indie venue in the Denver metropolis as well as the famous Fox Theatre in Boulder.
Summa released their debut single entitled “Microlove” on February 22, 2013. An EP of the same name is slated for release in September 2013 featuring Michael Kang of The String Cheese Incident.
Summa joined Take 2 Radio Music for a chat and some great music on August 28th

The band is comprised of born front man and song writer, Eric Paquette (Lead Singer, Guitar); master-thinker and fret shedder, Jeff Lynch (Lead Guitar, Vocals); rhythm locked to perfection with his drummer brother and two revolvers tattooed across his chest, Jordan KIng (Bass, Vocals); and the no-bio-can-ever-do-him-or-his-stage-presence-justice, Shaanan King (Drums). The band solidified this line up in January of 2011, and has found management with John O’Leary of JWorks Management and inked a Production deal with Universal Publishing and EMI Recording artists, Kurtis John and Michael Nadeau. I grew up with music all around me and I've been singing since I can remember. I didn't have any inhibitions, I would sing my heart out to whatever was on the radio.
In my early teens I found my second love, windsurfing. The search for wind and waves took me around the world. I was 20 years old and off the coast of South America when I was attacked by a tiger shark. It cut my major arteries and almost severed my foot. I was left with 250 stitches and a limp but it could have been worse. I am extremely lucky I can still walk and more importantly that I'm alive. That moment changed me forever; I realized life can end fast, that is why I chase my dream.
During my year-long recovery my grandma gave me a guitar and I wrote my first song. The last decade I've made a living from my music. No fast cars or big yachts but I’ve learned a lot. I have my own record label and release my own music. We're small but things are good. I’m not looking for overnight success; I believe if you nurture it and build it slow it will last longer. I've been blessed to tour the world and been honored to share the stage with amazing artists. My songs are finding their way out there and have been featured on: The Hills, Cougar Town, Parenthood, Ghost Whisperer and many more. Tracks have been licensed by Hollister, McDonalds, Delta Airlines, Arhaus Furniture and others. Most importantly I have an amazing fan base that keep me going. You can find me on iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, XM, Sirius and just about anywhere music is available.
When I am not on tour I live and perform in the Caribbean. It is a beautiful life and I am blessed to do what I love.

The 88 have been hailed as one of the finest pop/rock/alternative bands in recent memory; a distinction proven all the more relevant by their soon to be released LP, entitled FORTUNE TELLER. The ten-song collection from the Los Angeles-based band grabs the listener at the first note and never lets go, from the piano-driven opener "I Saw The Light That Day" to the longing beauty of ballad "The Clouds Rolled In." Songs like "You Are In Love" and "Deep In Your Heart" boast all of the vitality and craftsmanship of a seasoned band in full flight, brimming with both confidence and creativity.
Founded in 2002 by high school pals Adam Merrin (piano/keys) and Keith Slettedahl (vocals/guitar), and solidified as a band with the addition of bassist Todd O'Keefe and drummer Anthony Zimmitti, The 88 made their bones on the Southern California indie scene, releasing two well-received albums and earning acclamation as "Best Pop/Rock Band of the Year" from L.A. Weekly.
By remaining true to themselves, The 88 have crafted an immensely satisfying LP that stands tall among their impressive catalogue. And with so many projects in music, television, and film both ongoing and upcoming, the band shows no signs of slowing down. But like any true craftsman, their best is never enough.
"It still feels like a beginning," says Slettedahl.
Adds Merrin: "We have huge ideas for this band.
Nathalie Hernandez was born in 1996 in New York City. She is of Peruvian and British decent. Though neither of her parents are musicians, Nathalie was raised in a home where music was an important part of her life.
At age 10, Nathalie asked her parents if she could learn to play the guitar. Soon thereafter, she began her guitar lessons and quickly made progress. When she was 11 she was cast in a play through her local community youth theater. Included in the play was a talent show, allowing the kids to show off their individual talents. Nathalie wanted to sing a song but she was told she could not because of copyright laws. But that was but a small obstacle for this very determined girl who basically said "no problem, I'll write my own song." It turned out she had a gift for song writing and has been writing songs ever since.
Nathalie was a contestant on The Voice, Season 3.

RONNIE MATTHEWS AKA DJ CAPTAIN KIRK
Influencing the dance floor for 39 years MR Dance Music aka DJ Captain Kirk aka Ronnie Matthews
Ronnie Matthews, the head of STARFLEET MUSIC Record Pool, is celebrating 39 years in the music business as a whole, from his days as a Record Store buyer, Spinning Vinyl at the clubs under the name DJ Captain Kirk to sitting in the Captain’s Chair at STARFLEET MUSIC , both names he received the blessings on from Gene Roddenberry’s son. Best put by Ronnie himself “Well, I’m an old Trekkie. I saw the original Star Trek back in the 60’s & I always wanted to be Captain Kirk. Throughout my early DJing career I had not given a thought to having a DJ name/handle, so when one of the radio stations, WCKZ Kiss-102, asked to do their mix shows, the PD asked what my DJ name was, “DING”, the light went off in my head & DJ Captain Kirk was born. I’ve had a ton of fun with that name, plus it helped spawn my company name as well, Starfleet Music Pool. I have all sorts of items given to me from companies associated with Paramount/Universal, even have a drop by Gene Roddenberry’s son, Rod Roddenberry, who is in charge of the franchise now, saying thanks to Starfleet Music Pool DJs. You’ve gotta love it.”
